Demonstrate Your Value
What have you done to demonstrate value this week? The first step in Career Intensity is evaluating yourself. The second step is creating value. The third, which is the most often neglected, is demonstrating that value to others. No one knows what you’re capable of doing unless you show him. Identify problem spots and needs in your company, and volunteer to solve them. Once you’ve done that, let people know, in as overt or subtle a fashion as suits you.
Avoid discounting your accomplishments and strengths. Humility rarely gets anyone a promotion or a raise. Don’t downplay your accomplishments or sweep them under the rug. Let people praise you. If you don’t know how to respond to their comments, a simple “thank you” will do.
