Superachiever Core Values
In any relationship, business or personal, the way you treat people impacts your reputation, personal brand, and success tremendously. Following are three qualities that are embodied in the majority of superachievers:
Respect. Naturally, most of us do our best to treat our boss, coworkers, and clients with respect. When everyone behaves well and gets along, this is no problem. The true test of character arises when things go wrong. It’s not always easy to treat an irate customer, tyrannical supervisor, or dubious coworker with respect, but you must. Your reaction to trying circumstances makes just as much of an impression as the way you handle yourself during business as usual—sometimes even more so. Treat every business contact with fairness and respect. Doing so speaks volumes about your character.
Honesty. Lies will always catch up to you eventually, and nothing drives business prospects away faster than damaged trust. If you make a mistake, admit it. If you don’t know the answer, say so. Don’t waste your time or anyone else’s with anything less than the truth.
Integrity. A person of integrity adheres to her own personal code of conduct and is not subject to the influence of those who would like to interfere. She is clear about her intentions and values, and she does not compromise herself. When you are perceived as solid, unshakable, and reliable, your business associates will be loyal and rave about you to their friends.
